Open: 2023 Rough Gems Applications

About Rough Gems

Union Hall is seeking proposals for Rough Gems, our annual collaborative curatorial project, taking place at the gallery from Thursday, January 19th - Saturday, April 22nd, 2023Rough Gems will showcase the work of three Denver-based curators or curatorial teams in a pop-up exhibition format. Each of the three selected curators/curatorial teams will receive access to Union Hall’s space, budget, and additional resources in order to create a three-week pop-up exhibition, and will have the ability to supplement the show with one additional event or program throughout that three-week time period.

The goal of this program is to showcase local curatorial and artistic talent by turning over Union Hall’s gallery space to emerging curators, inviting them to share an exhibition in an active and experimental environment. Proposals from curators based in the Denver metro area that include the work of local artists and performers will be given priority, as will concepts that address a  unique facet of the local creative community. This call for curatorial proposals is open to projects that include a wide range of creative expression, including, but not limited to: visual art, music, poetry, dance, and performance of all kinds.

2023 Rough Gems Applications Close on October 3, 2022 by 6:00pm MST.

We will notify applicants of their acceptance by the end of October.
