Rough Gems is Union Hall’s annual open call and collaborative curatorial program. Each year we select three teams to showcase a pop-up exhibition in our gallery. NEUwave is the second exhibition in the 2020 Rough Gems series. With Rough Gems, Union Hall hopes to impact the lives of emerging artists and curators with a platform for exhibition that is inclusive, supportive, and committed to the artists we serve by paying them for exhibitions and performances.
Curated by KYLE of ONEWEARE, NEUwave is a dissertation on motion and emotion, intimacy and peace, connectivity and duality, nurturing and nourishment, self love and self healing. A translation through the lens of poetry, paintings, photography and sound. An introduction to the evolution of the progressive being.

Destiny Acuna
is a blue 21 year young multimedia latina; exploring what speaks to her. From reconstructing fabric-preferably denim, to using charcoal, conte pastel, and acrylic on canvas then possibly, combining them both. Destiny has found love and passion in watercolor this past year. The way to think of Destiny and her art is to think of the characteristics of water. Simple yet very complex. Dense. Powerful. Free. Adjusts in phase changes. Shifts perspectives... Boiling hot yet majestically freezing. Mysterious like the depths of the ocean. A constant craving. A necessity to life. Calming-then again, rapidly exciting. All shades of beautiful blue. With the desire to just flow into hearts. It’s her element. Destiny’s process differs for each project, but travels with her on adventure. She focuses on the energy and intention for each work of art to capture the moment’s frequency.

Dr3aM C@$t
is the sound you heard as a child when you first turned on your video game console...the first time your hairs stood up cheering on Goku when he avenged his fallen friend. Being transported into the matrix of nostalgia, this duo brings all its memories of color, imagination and pure expression , delivered to your ears with a pixelated bow. Prepare yourself for a trip to the musical arcade of swag.

Brien Hollowell
Brien Hollowell was born in Denver, Colorado. At the age of twenty-two, he was introduced to photography through a series of events that kept him from the fatal Batman movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Following the tragedy that struck his hometown, Brien fell in love with photography; believing it is his life calling. Pursuing the call to photography, he developed his skills at the Art Institute of Colorado, where he graduated. Brien enjoys spending his time in the photo studio capturing the movement of body, beauty, and hair. Clients such as Google, NYFW, NBA Dime Magazine, and Inc. Magazine have sought after Brien's photographic eye. Brien believes life giving experiences can develop with the right exposure to the Light. He currently works in Denver and New York.
