Union Hall is accepting applications for the sixth annual Rough Gems Curatorial Program. Are you an aspiring curator? Do you have a unique and innovative idea for an exhibition? Are you an artist, art-historian, or creative-minded person in the Denver area looking for a spotlight?

Union Hall’s Rough Gems program reflects our commitment to the advancement of emerging voices within curatorial practice. Rough Gems supports local, emerging curators and artists by providing equitable stipends, mentorship, and networking opportunities, while diversifying the voices responsible for exhibition-making.

About Rough Gems

Taking place at the gallery from Thursday, January 16th - Saturday, April 19th, 2025, Rough Gems will showcase the work of three Denver-based curators or curatorial teams in a pop-up exhibition format. Each of the three selected proposal will receive mentorship and access to Union Hall’s space, budget, and additional resources in order to create a month-long pop-up exhibition, and has the ability to supplement the show with one additional event or program.

Rough Gems was created as a response to the relatively few opportunities for emerging curators to submit work for consideration, receive portfolio reviews, and be awarded funds when compared to similar opportunities for artists. With this program, Union Hall is supporting artists and diversifying the voices responsible for exhibition-making.
