Open Call for Curatorial Proposals

Union Hall is accepting applications for the sixth annual Rough Gems Curatorial Program. Taking place at the gallery from Thursday, January 16th - Saturday, April 19th, 2025, Rough Gems will showcase the work of three Denver-based curators or curatorial teams in a pop-up exhibition format. Each of the three selected proposals will receive mentorship and access to Union Hall’s space, budget, and additional resources in order to create a month-long pop-up exhibition, and has the ability to supplement the show with one additional event or program.

Information Sessions

Union Hall will be offering two informational sessions to allow prospective applicants to learn more about the program and ask questions about the application process to our team, and about the experience of curating a Rough Gems exhibition from former Rough Gems curators. We highly encourage prospective applicants to attend these sessions!

• Rough Gems Application Information Session, with Union Hall’s Chief Curator Esther Hernandez and Executive Director Emma Perez Steuer

  Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 6:00-7:30 pm MT

  This virtual event will focus on the Rough Gems application process and allow prospective applicants to ask questions about the application and its required documents.
  

• In-Person Information Session & Happy Hour with Union Hall staff and Rough Gems alumni

  Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 6-7:30 pm MT

  This informal meeting will spotlight former Rough Gems curators who will speak about their experiences producing an exhibition at Union Hall and answer questions from prospective applicants.
