Diego Florez-Arroyo

Diego Florez-Arroyo is a full-time poet, artist, and musician based in Denver, Colorado. His work spans various mediums, from large-scale prefabricated installations to multimedia theatrical performances. Diego is a founding member of the Denver-based band Los Mocochetes, a group that blends activism with music, creating a powerful voice for social change. Diego's artistic journey is deeply rooted in his cultural heritage and personal experiences. His work extends beyond visual arts, as he regularly performs with the avant-garde improvisational group Art Compost and Word Mechanics at the iconic Mercury Cafe in Denver. Additionally, Diego is a member of the Soul Jazz Rock Trio, The Cosmosmiths, where his musical explorations continue to shine.

WARNING: Mi Amá explores the deep, innate connection between humans and the concept of “mother” in all its forms—biological, earth, and spiritual. Through a combination of mediums and processes, the exhibition draws attention to Florez-Arroyo's craftsmanship and intentional use of the beauty of the natural world, Mexican mythology, rituals, and traditions, as well as his own lived experience and connection to his mother.

Florez-Arroyo’s intention with this body of work is to encourage viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of life and the urgent need to protect our planet as a nurturing force.
