Join artist, curator, and facilitator Nathan Storey to learn about queer histories and methodologies of collage and assemblage during RUINS Collage Workshop presented by UNDERTOW EDITIONS. Aligned with the exhibition RUINS: PERFORMING QUEER HISTORY, workshop participants will also create multi-layered collages from LGBTQ+ materials and iconographies. 

Materials will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring materials of your own.

About UNDERTOW EDITIONS

­­UNDERTOW is an artist-run press supporting queer artists’ printed matter and ephemera. Collaborating with emerging, mid-career, and established artists, UNDERTOW produces books, zines, editions, and other ephemera such as posters, postcards, and matchboxes. Established in the summer of 2024 by Nathan Storey, UNDERTOW is a platform for historically underrepresented visual artists who explore, cultivate, and expand queer print culture.

UNDERTOW has a small, experimental workshop adjacent to The People’s Crossing at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder, Colorado.

Location, Parking, and Accessibility

Union Hall is located inside the first floor of The Coloradan in downtown Denver at 1750 Wewatta Street, Suite 144. There are two entrances to the building equipped with power assist doors and all public areas are wheelchair accessible. Street parking is available along Wewatta Street. Paid public parking is located in the building garage on the corner of Wewatta & 18th Street with wheelchair accessible spaces. Union Hall is located directly next to the Union Station train tracks, providing access to a variety of public transportation options including the bus, light rail, train, and ride shares. If you have trouble locating us on the day of the event call us at (720) 927-4033.

This workshop will be a seated event with tables and chairs will be provided. Access to artwork will be maintained for the duration of the event. Union Hall’s gallery will be lit with a combination of spotlights, overhead lighting, and natural light from windows. Music will be playing at a light to moderate volume from overhead speakers. Nathan Storey will be facilitating the workshop and discussion, with assistance from Union Hall staff. Collage materials will be provided, and participants are welcome to bring their own materials as well.
