Into the Skin: Transnavigation Closing Party

  • Union Hall 1750 Wewatta Street, Suite 144 Denver, CO, 80202 United States (map)

Into the Skin closes out the exhibition, Transnavigation, with embodied performances from Salineconjure666, Amayas, and Geo Conjure. These drag performances invite folks to experience moments in the body, feeling the euphoria, grief, joy, despair, experimentation, and pride of living in a gorgeous and hostile world.

Tickets are donation-based with a suggestion of $5 to $20 per person. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Curated by Rae Richards, Transnavigation: Coming Into the Body as Home is the first all jewelry show in Union Hall’s space—one that challenges conventional notions of what jewelry means.

About the Performers

Amayas

Amayas Gonzalez (b.2001) is a multidisciplinary artist and creative born and raised in Denver, Colorado, with their summers and holidays in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Their artistic endeavors intricately interweave their multiracial Latine heritage and trans/queer identities across various mediums including photography, fashion, poetry, and performance art. Amayas achieved their inaugural solo exhibition at the age of 20 in Denver's Spectra Art Space, featuring a collection titled "Pearls, Neon Lights, and Hatred," which melded poetry with an upcycled clothing series. Motivated by a desire to create the imagery and narratives they yearned for in their formative years, Amayas endeavors to introduce art reflective of their journey, while simultaneously challenging societal boundaries by venturing into unconventional spaces. Amayas aims to pave the way for future generations of trans femmes of color, amplifying narratives that have historically been marginalized and overlooked.

Geo Conjure

Geo Conjure, drag child of Willow Pill, is a Mississippi-born drag artist and practitioner deeply rooted in the traditions of African Diasporic Religions, specifically Hoodoo, conjure, and rootwork. Geo’s spiritual practice is a way of life, connecting them to ancestral spirits, the natural world, and healing energies. Through daily rituals, they honor their heritage and ancestors, weaving spirituality into every aspect of existence with an unapologetic, bold personality. Their drag performances blend avant-garde fashion, personal experiences, and spirituality, creating a vibrant, authentic expression of self.
