Union Hall seeks to make professional creative opportunities accessible to the public and support the development of the arts in the state of Colorado. This list was created for those who are looking to broaden their experiences, get more eyes on their work, focus on their practice, or acquire funding for projects. Some of the deadlines are right around the corner! While this list focuses on opportunities with deadlines in the summertime, many of the residences and exhibitions do not take place until later in the year, or until 2024. Be sure to check all of the activity dates for each opportunity before applying.

Create Award Residency

Financial Support: materials stipend
The goal of this residency is to support recently graduated artists in continued creation through access to equipment, mentoring and exhibitions. If you graduated in 2021 or later in a Fine Arts or Performing Arts program, you are eligible to apply for the Create Award. The first years out of art school is critical to the development of professional artistic practices. Artists who launch immediately into their chosen field are more likely to achieve success. The Create Award helps facilitate this launch.
Green Box Artist-in-Residence 2024 Program
Applications open in September of 2023 | Green Mountain Falls

Eligibility: international
Duration: 30 days
Financial Support: $9k - $15k stipends + free housing
The Green Box Artist in Residence program offers artists of national and international stature, from diverse disciplines, and at any stage in their career the opportunity to create new works while living in and engaging with the community of Green Mountain Falls and greater Pikes Peak region. This opportunity is open to individual artists, as well as duos and trios.
Breck Create’s Artist-in-Residence Program

Duration: 2-4 months
Financial Support: biweekly stipend of $600 to cover expenses
This program offers regional and national artists of all disciplines an opportunity to focus on process rather than product while engaging with the local community in a meaningful way. Artists will live/work in a studio in the Breckenridge Arts District, an intimate campus of historic structures. Residents will identify and collaborate with a community partner or organization on educational programs as well as participate in on-campus event and open studios.
Willowtail Arts & Ecology Residency

Eligibility: local, national and international applicants
Duration: 1 or 2 weeks
Financial Support: Apply for full or partial scholarships
This residency has has rolling deadlines and residency dates, so there’s some flexibility built into it. Applicants must be an emerging, established or mid-career practitioner in the visual arts, performing arts, film/multi-media, literature, music, ecology or natural sciences.Following the residency, participants must deliver a “community offering” within one year—this could be a lecture, an exhibition, or something else.
Center for the Arts Evergreen’s Artist-in-Residence Program

Duration: 12 weeks
Financial Support: $250 stipend per month ($750 total)

This program offers the opportunity for emerging and established artists to foster creativity and community engagement while developing both new works and works-in-progress. All artist mediums are encouraged to apply. Residents will be provided housing, private studio space, and teaching and sales opportunities. Residencies are offered 3 times per year. Each artist will develop and facilitate a community program related to their residency plan.
Art on the Street Fellowship

Eligibility: Pikes Peak region (El Paso or Teller counties of Colorado)
Duration: 7 months
Financial Support: $2,000 stipend (paid after installation of work). Up to $3,500 to defray fabrication costs
The Art on the Streets Fellowship program is designed to provide pathways to entry into public art for Pikes Peak region visual artists. Seeking artists without significant experience in public art, who represent the diversity of voices in the Pikes Peak region, and want to expand their artistic practice to include public art.

Centennial Traffic Box Wraps

This call has three sites available for artists to participate in. Each site offers an artist commission of $2,000. An artist may participate in a single site or all three sites and will be eligible for the commission for each site if they are selected. The City of Centennial will be covering the wrap production costs, installation and maintenance for each location. Each site has 6 (SIX) traffic boxes that need to be submitted.

Artworks Center for Contemporary Art in Loveland, Colorado is seeking submissions for an exhibition shedding light on the crisis of forest fires across the globe. Artists may develop work that focuses on global warming, resource destruction, property damage, loss of life, wilderness protection, sustainability, political issues, fire mitigation, first responders, or broadly conceptual work dealing with the interpretation of “engulfed.”

Core New Art Space invites all artists who reside in the United States to submit any mediums, 2d & 3d (except video/installations). Whether your visual artwork relates to fiction or fantasy, short story or saga, poetry or prose, we wish to see visual art works that embrace the idea of narrative. Sculpture for Historical Site in Windsor

The Town of Windsor Arts Commission (WAC) is seeking an artist to design, fabricate, and install a three-dimensional artwork at the Historic Halfway Homestead, Windsor’s newest historical site and park, currently under development. Any artist living and working in Colorado is welcome to apply. Preference will be given to Northern Colorado artists. Three to five finalists will be selected from the pool of initial applicants to submit a full proposal. Finalists will be provided a stipend of $200.
City of Salida Public Art Installation

The Public Art Commission of Salida (PAC) in tandem with the City of Salida invites artists to apply for a call of a 3-D sculpture/work/ installation in a pre-determined space in late-Fall 2023. The selected artist’s or artist-lead team’s work will be installed in an outdoor location near a multi-use trail at an entrance to the downtown business sector. This call is open to all artists, but preference will be given to artists/artist teams including regional artists residing within 500 miles of Salida.
Discovery Bay design for Vinyl Art Wrap

The City of Greeley is looking to award one (1) Artist and the Awarded artist shall be compensated a total of $2100 for the following: 1) the purchase of final design, 2) time required to make any requested changes to the design, and 3) to submit a high-resolution digital image of the final design. After final submission, the city will contract with a professional sign company to print and install the vinyl wrap at the city’s cost.
Pauline Robinson Branch Library - Request for Qualifications

Artists are invited to submit up to four hanging OR three 3-D works via email for consideration to 40 West Arts Gallery’s exhibition, Drumstick. This exhibition is open to all professional and amateur artists. All mediums are welcome. The gallery will retain a 15% commission on all works sold.

ON EDGE is an annual juried exhibition of contemporary work by artists residing in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region who are pushing the boundaries of material and concept in any media. EDGE Gallery takes a 30% commission on anything sold through the show.
Hike/Bike/Ski

The Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) is seeking artwork in all mediums (2-D, 3-D, video, kinetic) that responds to the theme Hike/Bike/Ski: Living in Motion. The gallery will be transformed into an indoor playground of art, adventure, and adrenaline. CAE takes a 40% commission of all sales.
ArtWorks Call for Climate Resiliency Photography and Storytelling

Have you taken photography that incorporates climate resiliency in a meaningful way? This program connects the arts with hazard mitigation, thus focusing the call on climate resiliency photography and storytelling across FEMA Region 8. Residents of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and the 29 Tribal Nations within FEMA Region 8. Be an inspirational voice and submit your artwork to help raise awareness, inspire dialogue, and encourage action to build a more sustainable and resilient future!
Arvada Bike Fence Activation

The Arvada Arts & Culture Commission is seeking qualifications from visual artists currently living in Colorado to design a large-scale art installation using bicycle imagery and motifs for an outdoor bike safety training complex. The activation should be a dynamic artwork that promotes bicycle safety, be child-friendly, and can attach securely to a chain link fence. The Commission will review and select up to 4 finalists. These finalists will be asked to complete a full proposal for their concept. The 3 finalists who are not selected will receive an honorarium of $250 for the completion of the proposals.
2023 Louisville Art Association National Fine Art Show

Palisade Art Vision, PAV, 8th Annual Public Sculpture Exhibit

Palisade Art Vision is seeking to expand their outdoor sculpture program to promote a visible aesthetic voice and to supplement the agriculture tourism of Palisade. Sculpture(s) must be exhibited for the full length of the exhibit which is approximately one year. Sculpture(s) must be made of materials appropriate for outdoor public locations in Colorado weather. Both representational and non-representational are welcomed. PAV will handle all sales and retain a 25% commission for any sculpture purchase.

Cottonwood Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs is asking artists in all medias to communicate essential qualities that get at the “real” and not the “ideal.” Contemporary Realism is an art movement which uses representational techniques to capture current subject matter and compositions. Original artwork made within the last two years is required. The gallery will retain 30% commission of all sales.

The Women’s Caucus for Art Colorado Chapter invites artists to submit work for a group exhibition at D’Art Gallery exploring the theme of “atmosphere.” From the physical environment and emotional to the abstract and ethereal, the concept of atmosphere is vast and open to interpretation. Artists at all stages of their careers are welcome to submit art that reflects an intriguing tone, capturing the essence of atmosphere. Paintings, sculptures, installations, mixed media, photography, and digital art will all be considered.
Behavioral Health Solutions Center - Request for Qualifications

This project is open to artists and artist teams residing in the state of Colorado. Artists are encouraged to consider biophilic and trauma-informed design strategies that support mental health through color, pattern and subject matter. The Denver Public Art selection panel is especially interested in inviting artists to apply who have relationships or lived experience with mental and behavioral health topics. Artworks could be created using media such as paint and sculptural applications suitable for outdoors.

The Denver Public Art selection panel is interested in inviting artists to apply who are new to public artwork and the public art process, particularly those who hope to shift toward sculptural work. Artwork should be approachable and fun and serve as a destination where trail users can gather. 2024 Exposure Photography Festival

The annual juried Exposure Photography Festival presents exhibitions that showcase photographic work by internationally renowned practitioners, alongside emerging and established talent from Alberta. Exhibit their work in the Exposure 2024 International Open Call exhibition at Contemporary Calgary. All photographers, visual artists and creatives working with the medium of photography worldwide are eligible to submit their work. Typically one work from an Artist’s submissions is selected for exhibition. The exhibition will open in February of 2024.

William Greaves Research and Development Fund

Firelight Media invites mid-career nonfiction filmmakers from racially and ethnically underrepresented communities in the United States and filmmakers in Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Colombia, with particular interest in those who identify as Indigenous and/or of African descent, to apply for funding. Grants support the research and development of a feature-length nonfiction film and any essential need grantees have, including healthcare and childcare costs.
Innovate Grant

Innovate Grant distributes (2) grants each quarter, to one Visual Artist and one Photographer. Our grant cycles are open (4) times a year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall). This is an international opportunity for all visual artists and photographers. The application process is quick and easy!
INSITE Fund
Deadline to apply is June 30, 2023
Availability: 6-12 grants
Compensation: $5,000 - $10,000 each
Administered by RedLine Contemporary Art Center, The INSITE Fund awards grants of up to $10,000 to directly support independent artists and artist collectives working across all visual media in the Denver Metro and Front Range. Awards will be granted to public facing visual arts projects that take place beyond the studio, museum, art center or traditional gallery setting. Projects must take place within a 115 mile radius of Denver, within Colorado.
Administered by Queer|Art, the annual Illuminations Grant for Black Trans Women Visual Artists supports early-career visual artists who are self-identified Black trans women and trans femmes living in the United States. In addition to the $10,000 grant, four finalists will receive a $1,250 award. Winning artists will also receive professional development resources and further guidance. to bolster creative development in their field.
Arts in Society Grant

Arts in Society grants will provide funding to support individuals and organizations in Colorado who seek to implement projects that utilize the arts as an integral element in promoting social justice and community welfare, including, but not limited, to projects responding to COVID-19 related needs. Determined by a selection panel, grant funds will be distributed in April 2024.
